About this Program

Health and Wellness programs provide community members with education & information on a range of health topics that address the determinants of health. These include, income and social status, social support networks, education, employment/working conditions, social and physical environment, personal health practices and coping skills, healthy child development and culture.
Our focus is to help our community members maintain optimal health. We do this by promoting a healthy lifestyle and teach practices that develop: healthy eating habits; physical fitness; support to manage, cope and prevent chronic illness; and provide a variety of opportunities to learn about new and exciting ideas as well to share strengths and build capacity for healthy living. The programs developed are based on participant feedback and health trends.

Specialized Workshops include:
- Food Skills: 4 to 6 week cooking programs that focus on special diets, age, seasons, budget, healthy and delicious recipes and safe food handling in a fun and interactive environment such as Get Cooking to Prevent Diabetes
- Self Care: Chronic Pain Management, Getting the Most out of your Healthcare Appointment, Diabetes
- Employment: workshops for developing soft skills through communication and interpersonal skills such as First Impressions, Talk Made Simple, Stand Out and Impress, Personal Trademark
- Physical Activity: Walking Groups, Get Active Now (fitness to prevent diabetes)
