SCHC Caregiver Wellness
About this Program
Caring for an aging relative or friend can be a rewarding experience but often, many find it exhausting, confusing, sometimes frightening, and always very demanding. This can impact caregiver wellness in multiple domains - physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and socially.
Caregivers need caring too! We care about the holistic health and well-being of caregivers. Through programs and services that support the many different needs of caregivers, we hope to reduce their stress and boost community connections, helping them in the very important role they play. We support those who provide ongoing and unpaid supports for families and friends living with disabilities, age-related concerns or chronic conditions throughout Scarborough: from Steeles Ave in the North, Pickering Town Line in the East, Lake Ontario in the South and Victoria Park Ave in the West. Most of our services are free of charge. They are provided in a confidential setting, delivered by knowledgeable and experienced staff, who are likewise passionate in senior and caregiver wellness. We come from diverse professional and personal backgrounds. For services in Tamil please check out our Tamil Caregiver Wellness program page SCHC Health & Wellness - Tamil Seniors. We also work with other community service agencies that provide caregiver programs in Scarborough, known as the Caring for Aging Relatives Group (CARG). |
